Unfortunately, the air we breathe isn’t as clean and safe as it should be, which can lead to us getting sick from air pollution and airborne germs.

As the world attempts a ‘new normal’ that factors in life with COVID-19, it is worth remembering that it and many other airborne diseases are still around us all the time, every day. And these invisible viruses can spread more rapidly through an enclosed area – such as your home – where close proximity to family members and roommates is practically unavoidable.

So, what do we do when the inevitable happens, and someone we live with brings a contagious airborne disease into our shared space?

Clear The Air With An Antiviral Air Filter

In addition to source control (i.e. social distancing, washing hands, and wearing a mask), among the first lines of defence for your home against almost anything airborne is a quality, durable air purifier… The operative word being ‘quality’. And when that ‘almost anything airborne’ is also of the viral variety, then that line of defence absolutely must be antiviral as well.

For instance, HomePure Zayn is an antiviral air purifier that properly filters the air in your home, including small viral particles. It filters out 99.8% of airborne particulates, allergens, viruses, bacteria, fungi, bad odours, and VOCs. Plus, it is tested and verified for a 99.94% reduction of SARS-CoV-2, the type of coronavirus that causes the airborne respiratory illness COVID-19.

At-Home Checklist

Once you have protected your home with an antiviral air purifier such as HomePure Zayn, there are a few other strategies that you can employ when living with someone who is ill and contagious.

1. Antiviral air filter… in every room.

Yes, we’ve already spoken about the line of defence that an antiviral air purifier can provide, but did you know that every air purifier has a limit to its protective coverage? For example, HomePure Zayn boasts an impressive 36 sqm of room protection, which is more than enough for the average-sized living room. You should have an antiviral air purifier in every room of your home, or at the least, in the designated ‘sick room’ where your housemate is self-isolating.

2. Bring in as much fresh air as possible.

This means ensuring good ventilation throughout your home, which can be achieved by opening multiple doors and windows and using a fan to circulate the air from inside to out.

3. Test yourself regularly.

As part of the ‘new normal’, everyone should have a small supply of COVID self-test kits on-hand in their home and a reliable thermometer and oximeter. You and your home-quarantined friend or family member should be testing regularly. If you have a high temperature or test positive, you should see a doctor and join your housemate in self-isolating… but in separate rooms!

4. Stay away!

It goes without saying that you should keep your distance from the infected person in your home. However, complete separation from someone who lives under the same roof is not always practical. Ensure you both wear a mask and avoid touching each other or the same items. Having a designated ‘sick room’ and a dedicated ‘sick bathroom’ will help reduce any contact points and cross-contamination.

5. Regularly wash your hands and disinfect surfaces.

This is good hygiene practice with or without illness lurking in your home. Wash your hands with soap – especially as soon as you arrive home and definitely before and after contact with the infected person – and disinfect all surfaces regularly while wearing gloves.

6. Sleep, eat, exercise, repeat.

Another perennially good advice is to look after yourself and keep your immune system strong to ward off diseases and illnesses. Get a lot of rest (8-10 hours starting before 22:00 hrs); drink a lot of water (2+ litres per day); eat well (foods rich in antioxidants are your best bet); and exercise (at least 30 minutes per day, five days per week). Being proactive in keeping yourself healthy is a strong way to assist your body’s immune system and prevent you from getting sick.

7. Now isn’t the time for a dinner party.

If you have plans to entertain guests, please reconsider. Not only is your sick family member or friend unlikely to feel up to having company in their home, but you are putting your visitors and yourself at risk. If you must have visitors, ensure they are in a room with your HomePure Zayn antiviral air purifier and keep the visit as short as possible. The more people inside your home, the longer they stay, and the higher the number of virus particles that can accumulate in your home space.

To keep the novel coronavirus and other viruses transmitted through the air from piggybacking into your home, the HomePure Zayn antiviral air purifier is one of a handful of smart, responsible anti-COVID measures you can employ within your home. You can rest assured that your antiviral HomePure Zayn reduces viable viral particles in the air by 99.94 per cent, including the COVID-causing SARS-CoV-2 (Omicron/B.1.1.529 Variant).

HomePure Zayn also purifies and sterilises air in your home, with a reduction of 99.8 per cent of airborne particulates as small as 0.1 microns, including bacteria, viruses, allergens, bad odours, fungi, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

It also utilises UV technology and an ultra-plasma ion filter to beef up your defences.

Now, even if someone you live with falls ill with a contagious airborne virus, having the antiviral HomePure Zayn air purifier working in the background of your home means you are one step closer to serving an eviction notice to the viruses in your house.
